Attic Cleanup
An attic that has housed wildlife does not go back to normal on its own. We clear it out, sanitize it, and restore the insulation.
What an animal leaves behind is a problem in its own right. Droppings, urine-soaked insulation, nesting debris, and food caches sit in an enclosed space directly above your living area, and the odor works its way down. Insulation that has been crushed and fouled also stops doing its job, which shows up on your energy bills.
We see this most often in the older homes around Madison, Inglewood and Goodlettsville, where an attic may have been open to wildlife on and off for decades and the original insulation is long past saving. On rural properties toward Greenbrier and Springfield the same job frequently extends to a barn loft or an outbuilding that has been left to the animals for a season or two. Either way the humid Middle Tennessee summers keep the odor active until the material is out.
There is a second reason cleanup matters: scent. The markings and residue a den leaves behind are exactly what signals to the next animal that the space is suitable. Removing the contamination is part of preventing the repeat visit — alongside sealing the openings.

- Is cleanup really necessary after the animals are gone?
- Contaminated insulation, droppings, and nesting material keep producing odor long after the animal leaves, and scent left behind can attract the next one. Cleanup closes out the job properly.
- Does insulation have to be replaced?
- Only where it is soiled or flattened past the point of working. The inspection determines how much is affected and the written estimate reflects that.
- Can you clean up after a bat or bird problem specifically?
- Yes. Guano and bird droppings are handled as part of our bat and bird work, and can also be addressed on their own.
- Do you seal the entry points too?
- Cleanup pairs with exclusion. There is no value in restoring an attic that is still open, so we recommend both, and exclusion work is warrantied.
