Bird Control

Bird problems are rarely about a single bird. Once a ledge, dryer vent, or covered entryway proves to be a safe nesting site, it gets used again every season, and the droppings, nesting debris, and blocked vents accumulate. Blocked dryer and bathroom vents in particular are both an airflow issue and a fire concern.

Locally, most of our bird calls come from two directions. The subdivisions around Hendersonville and Rivergate have long runs of uniform vents and covered entryways that birds work through house by house, while barns, shops and open outbuildings toward Greenbrier and Springfield give starlings and swallows unlimited ledge space. Unscreened dryer and bath vents on 1950s-70s homes through the Goodlettsville corridor account for a steady share of the rest.

Because birds are a roosting problem rather than a denning problem, the fix looks different from raccoon or squirrel work. Removal alone accomplishes very little — the site has to stop being attractive. We install deterrents and physical barriers such as vent covers and screening so the surface can no longer be used.

We inspect the roofline, vents, ledges, and any covered structure where droppings have collected, remove active nests humanely, clean and sanitize the affected surfaces, and then fit the deterrents. The result is a building that birds pass over instead of settle on.
